Baseball Recap: Bishop Mcnamara Finds Playoff Glory Versus Herscher

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bishop McNamara walked away with it. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Herscher Tigers on Saturday. The Fightin' Irish haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Dom Panozzo, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Herscher off the board. Panozzo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Fuerst, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double. Callahan O'Connor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Bishop McNamara kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herscher only managed two hits.

Bishop McNamara's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Herscher, their loss dropped their record down to 29-8.

Coming up, Bishop McNamara will challenge Manteno at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Fightin' Irish surely won't give up without a fight. Herscher does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
