Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morenci). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Round Valley Elks 19-18. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Elks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Morenci got a massive performance out of Christopher Carbrajal, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Carbrajal has become a key player for Morenci: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Jordan Romero also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Morenci now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Round Valley, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.

Morenci didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-2 defeat against Santa Cruz Valley on the 20th. As for Round Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-9 win against Willcox on the 21st.
