Basketball Recap: Trego Comes Up Short

Trego was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the Smith Center Redmen. The match was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but the Golden Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Smith Center's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brant Wilson, who went 9-for-15 to rack up 22 points and three steals. Those 22 points gave Wilson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daveyon Orr, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points.

Trego's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Smith Center, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Trego does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Smith Center, they will head out to take on Beloit at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Beloit's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Smith Center has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
