Battle had won five straight games and Vernell Holt did his part to make it six on Saturday. The Battle Spartans came out on top against the Cardinal Ritter College Prep Lions by a score of 71-64 thanks in part to Holt, who went 8 of 15 en route to 24 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Jakobi Laboy was another key player, putting up five points. He also posted two blocks, marking his first of the season.

Battle has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Cardinal Ritter College Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Battle will head out to take on Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Ritter College Prep has already played their next match (against O'Fallon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
