Volleyball Recap: Clayton Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Saline Spalding and Layla Seremet

Clayton lost against Cleveland back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Comets fell 3-1 to the Rams. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-15, 22-25, 25-15.

Layla Seremet and Saline Spalding certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Seremet had seven digs and two aces, while Spalding had nine digs, five kills, three aces, and two blocks. Spalding is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Ava Goodwin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Addison Evans was her usual excellent self, getting ten digs and two aces for Cleveland. What's more, Evans racked up 46 assists, the most she's had since back in August. Another player making a difference was Madison Smith, who had six aces, five kills, and four digs.

Clayton now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cleveland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.

Clayton has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Fuquay - Varina on the 18th. As for Cleveland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Chapel Hill on the 17th.
