Recap: Ridge Christian Academy Eagles vs. Excel Christian Academy Spartans
The Ridge Christian Academy Eagles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 85-30 defeat at the hands of Excel Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Ridge Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 780th, while Excel Christian Academy is ranked 285th).
Ridge Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Garrido, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Kurtis Colon, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for William Medina, who scored no points along with 12 assists and six rebounds for Excel Christian Academy. That's the first time this season that Medina posted eight or more assists.
Ridge Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Excel Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridge Christian Academy will take on Faith Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Excel Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Florida College Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
