Softball Recap: Elk Rapids Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

Elk Rapids had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They skirted past the Boyne City Ramblers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Elks have posted since May 23, 2024.

Rhielynn Skrocki was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Elk Rapids let Emily Vandergriff and Jillian Moazeni run wild. Vandergriff went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Moazeni went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Haleigh Yocom also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Elk Rapids' victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Boyne City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
