The home team had won the previous four meetings between Jay County and Delta, and Jay County kept the tradition alive. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Eagles 6-4. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 8-4 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Austin Myers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Byrum, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Andrew Schemenaur, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Jay County's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Delta, they moved to 15-8 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jay County will face off against Blackford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Delta, they will challenge Pendleton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
