Baseball Recap: Martin County Takes a Loss

Martin County had lost 15 straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-26 to make it 16. They fell just short of the Tug Valley Panthers by a score of 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Aidan Mann was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

As for Tug Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-15 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Martin County since April 23, 2022.

On Tug Valley's side, Gage Whitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Parker Smith was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Darian Vance, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Martin County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Paintsville on the 9th. As for Tug Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 12-4 win against Westside on the 11th.
