Basketball Recap: Rylee Wright's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oakwood over Westville

Oakwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 41-30 to the Westville Tigers. The Comets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 53-51.

Oakwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rylee Wright, who posted eight points. Caydence Vermillion was another key player, putting up six points along with ten boards and three steals.

Leading Westville to victory were Gwen Bennett and Layla Walblay. Bennett earned 21 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds, while Walblay put up nine points.

Oakwood's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Westville, they moved to 7-19 with that win, which also ended their 12-game losing streak.

Oakwood has already played their next game, a 46-10 loss against Cissna Park on the 31st. As for Westville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-25 victory against Chrisman on the 4th.
