The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association suspended the remainder of the girls state basketball tournament on Thursday following the conclusion of the quarterfinals rounds.

The TSSAA also suspended the boys tournament, set for next week, due to concerns over the conoravirus outbreak gripping the nation.

The state association said plans to reschedule the events depends "on the length of the suspension and the availability of facilities."

The basketball finals were scheduled to be played at Middle Tennessee State University, which has sent its student away from campus.

There was no word from the TSSAA on spring sports.
