Recap: Sweetwater Wildcats vs. Midway Green Wave

The Sweetwater Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 12th straight loss. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Midway. Sweetwater lost against Midway in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 57-49 score last time.
Sweetwater's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lilly Woodruff, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Woodruff scored a full 31.4% of Sweetwater's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kendall Tyler was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Sweetwater were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Sweetwater bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Midway, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sweetwater and Polk County will face off at 6:00 a.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Polk County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Midway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oliver Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
