Baseball Game Preview: Panther Creek Catamounts vs. Wakefield Wolverines

The Panther Creek Catamounts will venture away from home to take on the Wakefield Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Panther Creek is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Panther Creek came up short against Green Level and fell 8-3.

Panther Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chandler McDaniels, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Wakefield was able to grind out a solid victory over Rolesville on Tuesday, taking the game 6-2. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Tyler Rotellini spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Thomas Piscorik, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Luke Blackburn also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Panther Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Wakefield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Panther Creek suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Wakefield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Panther Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
