The Garfield Boilermakers will challenge the Mount Olive Marauders on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Garfield didn't have quite enough to beat St. Mary and fell 2-1. The Boilermakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Garfield started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-17, 25-17.
Despite the loss, Garfield had strong showings from Alyssa Roundtree, who had 13 digs and two aces, and Samantha Lee, who had five aces and one assist. That assist was Lee's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Mount Olive came tearing into Monday's matchup with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Colonials by a score of 2-0.
Mount Olive easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-12.
Garfield better keep an eye on Genessa Baltazar. She was instrumental in Mount Olive's win, getting ten digs.
Garfield's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Mount Olive, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.
