Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from LaQuaya Tillman, who posted eight points and three blocks. Those three blocks gave her a new career-high. Jaleigh Fred was another key player, going 6 for 15 on her way to 12 points and six steals.
Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, South Tahoe made off with a 36-35 win over McQueen.
South Tahoe had a senior duo take command as Campbell Mathews dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards and Avery Long dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Long is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Milan Riva was another key player, putting up two points and 13 rebounds.
South Tahoe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.
South Tahoe is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season. As for McQueen, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: McQueen has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.5 boards per game. However, it's not like South Tahoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
