PORTLAND, Mich. -
Joe Mackowiak threw two touchdowns and ran for three more as
St. Patrick (Portland, Mich.) beat Litchfield (Mich.) 57-8 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Mackowiak in the first quarter, the Shamrocks were up 50-8 at the half.
St. Patrick expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. SP's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Tate Schrauben.
The Portland school put up 37 points in the first quarter en route to the win. The Shamrocks scored on a Mackowiak touchdown run, a Mackowiak touchdown pass to
Jake Schneider, a touchdown run by
John Carley, a Mackowiak touchdown run and a touchdown run by
Paul Carley in the quarter.
Mackowiak was the top performer for St. Patrick. He has now scored 14 touchdowns on the season.
Litchfield's lone touchdown came on a 35-yard pass in the second quarter.
SP came into the game allowing 12.8 points per game.
A 67-6 St. Patrick victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss was the third in a row for the Terriers.
In a Southern Michigan (8 Man) game next week St. Patrick (6-0) takes on Webberville, and Litchfield (1-5) will go up against Michigan Lutheran also in a Southern Michigan (8 Man) game.
