Whiting waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Gary West Side Cougars 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Oilers also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Whiting was: they took every set by at least 18 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-6, 26-5.

Lyzett Lozano paced Whiting's offense, picking up ten kills. Lozano got some help from Liliana Lozano and her 11 assists. Lyzett was also solid from the service line: she led the team with 11 aces.

Whiting's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Gary West Side, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Whiting will welcome East Chicago Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gary West Side, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hammond Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
