Softball Game Preview: Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders vs. South Garner Titans

The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the South Garner Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Cardinal Gibbons is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Cedar Ridge on Thursday. They came up short against the Fighting Red Wolves, falling 13-2. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Fighting Red Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Cardinal Gibbons saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bridget Mazzo, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, South Garner didn't have quite enough to beat Hillside on Thursday and fell 13-12.

Cardinal Gibbons' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for South Garner, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cardinal Gibbons came up short against South Garner in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Cardinal Gibbons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
