Basketball Recap: Pahokee Takes a Loss

Pahokee lost against Atlantic Christian last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pahokee Blue Devils took a hard 58-41 fall against the Atlantic Christian Sharks. The Blue Devils were down 44-23 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Pahokee lost, don't look at Sa?Nya Flowers. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points. That was a full 51.2% of Pahokee's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlissa Young, who scored eight points.

Leading Atlantic Christian to victory were Jaidah Chase and Destiny Martinez. Chase put up 27 points, while Martinez earned 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Chase has scored at least a third of Atlantic Christian's points.

This is the second loss in a row for Pahokee and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Atlantic Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Pahokee won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Dreyfoos School of the Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Atlantic Christian, they will face off against Benjamin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Atlantic Christian is facing Benjamin at the right time seeing as Benjamin is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
