Basketball Recap: Linn County Takes a Loss

Linn County played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Meadville Eagles and fell 77-49. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-54 back in December of 2024.

Meadville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Dennis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Dennis' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Donivan Schreckhise, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards.

The loss snapped Linn County's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. As for Meadville, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Linn County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bevier at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. As for Meadville, they will take on Tina-Avalon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
