Baseball Recap: Clear Creek Takes a Loss

Clear Creek extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-6 in the process. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golddiggers of the 20-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Dayspring Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For Dayspring Christian Academy's part, Logan Vaniddekinge made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Vaniddekinge has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gavin Bohl was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Josiah Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Clear Creek will challenge Arrupe Jesuit at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.67 runs per game on average), something the Golddiggers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they will face off against Dawson School at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
