Football Game Preview: Northumberland vs. Mathews

Northumberland have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. On Friday they take on Mathews at 7:00 PM. Northumberland will be hoping to build upon the 51-0 win they picked up against Mathews the last time they played.

Northumberland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener three weeks ago. They blew past Surry County 37-7. Northumberland were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

Meanwhile, Mathews found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-24 punch to the gut against Lancaster last Friday.

Northumberland's win lifted them to 1-0 while Mathews's loss dropped them down to 0-3. We'll see if Northumberland's success rolls on or if Mathews are able to steal their positive momentum.
