Preview: Heritage Coyotes vs. Lone Star Rangers
Heritage is 0-9 against Lone Star since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Heritage Coyotes will be playing at home against the Lone Star Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Heritage will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Lone Star is ranked 52nd).
Heritage fell victim to Reedy's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Lions. Heritage has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Lone Star entered their tilt with Frisco with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Lone Star beat Frisco on Thursday by the very same score they won with last week: 41-10. The result was nothing new for Lone Star, who have now won five matches by 31 points or more so far this season.
Collin Blackstock and Davian Groce were among the main playmakers for Lone Star as the former rushed for 20 yards and two touchdowns and the latter gained 139 total yards and two touchdowns.
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lone Star, their victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Heritage was taken down by Lone Star 37-7 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Heritage have more luck at home instead of on the road?
