Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn North vs. Gretna East Griffins

Elkhorn North will square off against the Gretna East Griffins at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhorn North has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 207 points over their last three contests.

Elkhorn North is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Skutt Catholic, who was ranked 17th at the time (Elkhorn North was ranked sixth). Elkhorn North came out on top in a nail-biter against Skutt Catholic on Saturday, sneaking past 69-67.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Gretna East's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Norris by a score of 54-51. The match marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Elkhorn North will need focus on slowing down Jake Hawley, one of several Gretna East players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Hovie, who posted 13 points and five assists.

Elkhorn North's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Gretna East, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
