Basketball Recap: Waverly's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Waverly can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over the South Webster Jeeps. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 70-32 on January 13th.

Several Jeeps players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eden Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in boards. Cailee Blevins was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Waverly's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. As for South Webster, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Portsmouth West the next time they take the court. Waverly will head out to face Portsmouth West at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while South Webster will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
