Baseball Recap: St. David's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While St. David's victory against St. Augustine Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. St. David skirted past St. Augustine Catholic 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since March 22, 2024.

Grant Haymore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for St. David: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-3-1 otherwise. Haymore was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Haymore wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Judd, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Luke Haymore also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory (which was St. David's third in a row) raised their record to 4-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. David will take on Bagdad at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they will square off against Palo Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
