Volleyball Recap: Spencer Comes Up Short

Spencer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Owen-Withee Blackhawks, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rockets have suffered since September 23rd.

The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-23.

Carmen Krause paced Spencer's offense, picking up ten kills. Krause got some help from Chloe Timm and her 15 assists. Krause also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Alexa Weber, each putting up two.

Spencer's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Owen-Withee, their victory ended a seven-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.

Spencer and Owen-Withee could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Rockets (ranked 310th) will meet Bloomer (ranked 95th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Owen-Withee will square off against Stanley-Boyd at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (259 vs. 40).
