Baseball Game Preview: Farmington Scorpions vs. Rio Rancho Rams

Farmington hasn't had much luck against Rio Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Scorpions will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 12:00 p.m.

Farmington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Piedra Vista, who was ranked ninth at the time (Farmington was ranked 13th). The Scorpions fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Rio Rancho made easy work of Cleveland on Friday and carried off a 10-3 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Rio Rancho's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Farmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.
