Basketball Recap: Carroll Piles Up the Points Against Orange Grove

Carroll had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by the Orange Grove Bulldogs to the tune of 73-28. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jacob Longoria was a one-man wrecking crew for Carroll as he went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Sanchez, who posted 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Carroll smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Carroll's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Orange Grove, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Carroll didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-35 victory against Port Aransas on the 6th. As for Orange Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-29 defeat against Palacios on the 5th.
