Baseball Recap: North Fork Has No Trouble Against Rangely

North Fork won the last time they faced Rangely and things went their way on Saturday too. North Fork blew past Rangely 14-4. The Miners' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mario Gama made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Payson Pene was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brylan Cotten was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-6.

North Fork kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

North Fork now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Rangely, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, North Fork will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Cedaredge at 2:00 p.m. As for Rangely, they will venture away from home to take on Meeker at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rangely is facing Meeker at the right time seeing as Meeker is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
