Recap: Evansville Reitz Panthers vs. Castle Knights
The Evansville Reitz Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Castle and snuck past 67-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Evansville Reitz found their leader in underclassman Jaylan Mitchell, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mitchell has scored at least 25% of Evansville Reitz's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Swanson, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
Despite the loss, Castle had strong showings from Ryan Lambert, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, and Xander Niehaus, who scored 17 points. Niehaus also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Adler Mcatee was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
The win got Evansville Reitz back to even at 3-3. As for Castle, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Evansville Reitz will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Park Tudor at 2:15 p.m. on December 28th. Castle won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Danville at 2:00 p.m. on December 16th. Danville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
