Softball Recap: Lytle Takes a Loss

Lytle lost to Cotulla back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pirates came up short against the Cowboys, falling 9-1. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lytle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anissa Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Lytle's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-7-2. As for Cotulla, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lytle is set to challenge their familiar foe Dilley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cotulla will face off against rival Natalia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
