Softball Game Preview: Onaga Buffaloes vs. Blue Valley Rams

The Onaga Buffaloes will face off against the Blue Valley Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Onaga is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Onaga took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Doniphan West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Onaga skirted past Doniphan West 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buffaloes have posted since May 16, 2024.

Willow Hochstedler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Annie Force was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Haskin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Blue Valley fell victim to Republic County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Buffaloes.

Blue Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelbi Dettmer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Onaga's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Blue Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
