Baseball Recap: Spackenkill Comes Up Short

Spackenkill dropped to 5-4 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Pine Plains Bombers, falling 8-0. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bombers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Pine Plains, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0. Considering they have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Pine Plains' part, Warren Lounsbury made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Lounsbury has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ryan Blass was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Spada, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Spackenkill will venture away from home to face off against Dover at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Pine Plains, they will face off against Red Hook at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bombers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
