Softball Recap: Immokalee Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Immokalee can now relate to. They fell just short of the Riverdale Raiders by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. The Indians have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Maria Marino was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Jazmin Garcia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Alexia Turrubiartez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Immokalee's defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Riverdale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.

Immokalee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverdale, they will face off against Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sharks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
