Recap: Powhatan Indians vs. Richmond City School of the Arts
The Powhatan Indians entered their tilt with the Richmond City School of the Arts with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Powhatan beat Richmond City School of the Arts on Friday by the very same score they won with last week: 49-6. Considering Powhatan has won four matches by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Powhatan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Layman, who threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Matt Henderson, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Powhatan's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Richmond City School of the Arts, Clover Hill, and Midlothian. As for Richmond City School of the Arts, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Powhatan will head out on the road to face off against Huguenot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Huguenot will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. Richmond City School of the Arts does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
