Baseball Recap: Capuchino Beats Hillsdale for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Capuchino extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 14-9 in the process. Everything went their way against the Hillsdale Fighting Knights as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Capuchino got a great performance from Declan Mendel as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Mendel a new career-high.

At the plate, Cameron Chin was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Andres Gomez, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Capuchino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in six consecutive games.

As for Hillsdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since April 12, 2024.

On Hillsdale's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Minahan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Capuchino beat the Fighting Knights by a score of 5-1 on Friday.
