Basketball Recap: Hughes Comes Up Short

Hughes lost against Anderson back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hughes BIG RED lost 48-24 to the Anderson Raptors. The matchup marked the BIG RED's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Anderson found their leader in sophomore Ella Dreier, who went 8 of 13 en route to 25 points. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Dreier has scored at least a third of Anderson's points. Another player making a difference was Breea Coston, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Hughes is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for Anderson, they moved to 3-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Hughes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-46 loss against Woodward on the 22nd. As for Anderson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-36 defeat against Lebanon on the 23rd.
