Basketball Recap: Tindley Piles Up the Points Against Irvington Preparatory Academy

Tindley came into Wednesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Irvington Preparatory Academy 78-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Tigers have posted since December 12, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tindley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Henri Maye, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 boards. Maye continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Houston, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 17 points.

Tindley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Irvington Preparatory Academy lost, don't look at RJ Starks. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 18 en route to 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Starks a new career-high. Xavier Page was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Tindley's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Tindley Tigers duke it out with the Gary West Side Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gary West Side will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Tindley surely won't give up without a fight. Irvington Preparatory Academy has already played their next contest (against Purdue Broad Ripple), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
