Recap: Oakland-Craig Knights vs. South Sioux City Cardinals
The Oakland-Craig Knights were the 56-42 winner over the South Sioux City Cardinals when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Oakland-Craig fell 68-61 to South Sioux City on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Briar Ray, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Ray scored a full 29.5% of Oakland-Craig's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adi Rennerfeldt, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds.
Brooklyn Heineman went supernova for South Sioux City, scoring 30 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Heineman has scored at least 25% of South Sioux City's points. Bryleigh Robinette was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 4 steals.
Oakland-Craig's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for South Sioux City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakland-Craig will face off against Clarkson/Leigh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Sioux City, they will head out on the road to face off against Cedar Catholic at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
