Softball Recap: Plano West's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Plano West can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against the Rains Wildcats by a score of 6-2.

Abby Cuellar was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Kaaya Mehta was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Plano West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Plano West now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Rains, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7-1.

Coming up, Plano West will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Plano at 7:15 p.m. Plano has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.92 runs per game on average), something Plano West will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rains, they will head out on the road to take on Winnsboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Winnsboro has won three straight at home, while Rains won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
