Soccer Game Preview: Patterson vs. East Union

The Patterson Tigers will face off against the East Union Lancers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

East Union will be up against a hot Patterson squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Patterson's defense stepped up to hand Sierra a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Sierra from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Union). They put the hurt on Oakdale with a sharp 5-2 win on Thursday. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Mustangs are ranked 850th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Patterson has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-0-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight contests. As for East Union, they pushed their record up to 10-3-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
