Baseball Game Preview: Academy for Sciences & Agriculture Eagles vs. Medford Tigers

The Academy for Sciences & Agriculture Eagles will square off against the Medford Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Academy for Sciences & Agriculture is looking for their season's first win.

Academy for Sciences & Agriculture fell victim to St. John's Prep and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Johnnies, falling 22-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Medford). They put the hurt on Waterville-Elysian-Morristown with a sharp 18-7 victory on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

August Zacherias and Landon Seiler were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Zacherias pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Seiler pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At bat, Zacherias went 2-for-6 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Seiler went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Logan Maas was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Jared Sheeler was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Medford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Academy for Sciences & Agriculture's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Medford, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-6.
