Basketball Recap: Green City's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of six wins, Green City's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Princeton Tigers by a score of 58-55. The Gophers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Green City lost, don't look at Jaryn Hatcher. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. The contest was Hatcher's 17th in a row with at least 15 points. Macy Jeffries was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Green City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Green City's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 22-5. As for Princeton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-4.
