Basketball Recap: New Deal Comes Up Short

New Deal suffered their biggest defeat since February 12th on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Abernathy Antelopes, falling 65-27. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while the Antelopes are ranked 68th).

Mecailin Marshall was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds for Abernathy. The match was Marshall's 18th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrea Thiel, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

New Deal's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Abernathy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

New Deal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-17 win against Ralls on the 20th. As for Abernathy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-45 victory against Nazareth on the 20th.
