Basketball Recap: A'mya Robinson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Strom Thurmond

South Aiken's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged the Strom Thurmond Rebels out 24-22. Given the Thoroughbreds' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Rebels are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Aiken's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but A'Mya Robinson led the charge by putting up six points in addition to nine blocks and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tekinia Dixon, who posted seven points along with five boards and four steals.

The victory got South Aiken back to even at 7-7. As for Strom Thurmond, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

South Aiken will welcome Midland Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Aiken is facing Midland Valley at the right time seeing as Midland Valley is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Strom Thurmond has already played their next matchup (against Pelion), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
