Baseball Game Preview: Almeta Crawford Chargers vs. Brazos Cougars

The Almeta Crawford Chargers will square off against the Brazos Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Almeta Crawford will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.

If Almeta Crawford beats Brazos with 11 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Chargers blew past Sealy 11-5 on Thursday. Considering the Chargers have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

TJ Weaver looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alec Baldauf was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Shane Rourick was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Almeta Crawford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Brazos suffered their biggest loss since March 13th on Thursday. They came up short against East Bernard, falling 18-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Brahmas: they've now lost three in a row.

Reese Cullen and Luke Polasek stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cullen went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Polasek got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Almeta Crawford's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Brazos, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
