Volleyball Recap: Florence Comes Up Short

Florence and Valley Christian squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Florence had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat last Wednesday.

While Florence was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Valley Christian's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-12, 25-18.

Valley Christian can attribute much of their success to Ellie Gregg, who had ten digs and three assists. That's the most assists Gregg has posted since back in October.

Florence's defeat dropped their record down to 28-12. As for Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-10 record this season.

Florence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valley Christian, they will square off against Gilbert Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
