Softball Recap: Darlington Takes a Loss

Darlington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pecatonica Vikings. If the Redbirds were looking for revenge after losing 8-6 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Darlington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Pecatonica, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Darlington is taking a road trip to square off against Boscobel at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.15 runs per game on average), something the Redbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pecatonica, they will host Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
