Baseball Game Preview: Morton Potters vs. Metamora Redbirds

The Morton Potters will venture away from home to square off against the Metamora Redbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Morton will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Morton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Galesburg by a score of 3-0.

Camden Taylor looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andy Ballard was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Brooks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Metamora, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They skirted past Washington 3-2.

Morton pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Metamora, their record now sits at 4-5.
